When my parents decided to move to Colorado Springs we conducted a whirlwind tour seeing 40 homes in 3 days. My mother couldn't find what she wanted - until we took her to Flying Horse.
Located in northern Colorado Springs, a mere 5 miles from the Air Force Academy, Flying Horse had everything she was looking for: wide open views, walking trails (The New Santa Fe Trail and Fox Run Regional Park are within 5 miles) access to shopping, close proximity to medical facilities, movies and dining - close to everything yet with that "get away from it all" feel.

Once my parents saw the club at Flying Horse, they knew this was the neighborhood for them. They put an offer on a house that featured the floorplan my mom loved with views of Pikes Peak and the Air Force Academy. They closed on the house in May 2009 and they have loved living in Flying Horse ever since.

Flying Horse is divided into 8 neighborhood "Villages".
What's great about living in Solera or Syrah are the amazing views out your front door. Barefoot Park connects the two villages and hosts playground equipment, soccer fields, a baseball area and a hockey rink. The perimeter of these two neighborhoods comprise a 5K dog-friendly walking trail with wide sidewalks, benches and pet waste facilities.
The view you see here is from the outer perimeter of Syrah (along Northgate Blvd). The homes in the distance are on Cedarville Way in the Saratoga neighborhood of Flying Horse. Continue heading towards the mountains on Northgate Blvd and you'll end at the Air Force Academy's north gate. The villages of Solera and Syrah are within walking distance to the Discovery Canyon Campus which is a new District 20 school serving grades k-12. DCC, as it's called, welcomed their first senior class in 2010/2011.
Homes in this area generally sell in the mid $300's to mid $500's.

There are 6 additional villages in Flying Horse: Calistoga, Sonoma, Encore, Saratoga, Verona and Toscano.
Calistoga offers lots that back to the golf course. Here, you'll find larger homes (4,000+ sqft) closer to the mid $800s to $1 million. Membership to the Flying Horse Club is generally included with the purchase of new construction.
The Flying Horse neighborhood of Sonoma is all about old-world charm. The "village" of Sonoma is wine-country inspired with patio homes from 3,800 to 5,800 sqft. Some lots back to the golf course and the neighborhood is within walking distance of the Athletic Club and Spa.
Encore is considered the active-adult neighborhood of Flying Horse. There are no age restrictions, but their marketing demographic is definitely targeting the active retiree. Prices in this neighborhood hover in the mid $400s. Most plans are ranch floor plans. This community is within walking distance of the Flying Horse Club and offers yard maintenance included in the monthly HOA dues.
The Village of Saratoga is nearly complete. This village is located south of Northgate Blvd. The Powers corridor extension will be coming in south of this neighborhood, connecting to I-25 (the Powers Blvd extension currently ends at Hwy 83). Homes in this neighborhood start in the mid $300's and reach $800+.
The Village of Verona has not yet been built but will be very similar to Saratoga and closer to the Flying Horse Athletic Club and Spa.
The Village of Toscana is a gated community located across from the Club at Flying Horse with million dollar custom homes, like this one from Tara Custom Homes.
